Wiener Sängerknaben – The Vienna Boys’ Choir
Luiz de Godoy, conductor

Works by: Johann and Josef Strauss, Mozart, Schubert, contemporary music and folk songs

This year marks the first time for the Carinthian Summer Festival that the world-famous Vienna Boys’ Choir will give their concert at St. Andrä. Their programme comprises secular music: songs by Johann and Josef Strauss, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert as well as some contemporary compositions and folk songs. The young singers will be conducted by Luiz de Godoy. The Brazilian conductor has been a Kapellmeister of the Vienna Boys’ Choir since February 2016; he conducts one of the four touring choirs. In addition to the busy concert schedule, Luiz de Godoy is also in charge of preparing the boys for Mass at the Imperial Palace Chapel in Vienna, appearances at the opera, recordings and film shootings. For de Godo, music is a human virtue – something you can learn and train, something that helps you express yourself and communicate. “Making music means encountering each other with respect; it’s never too early to start.”
