Sjaella is a group of young vocalists from Leipzig whose name is derived from själ, the Swedish word for soul, spirit. The pieces they have chosen for the evening are soulful indeed, ranging from Marian antiphon to Scandinavian choral arrangements and the latest songs for choral singing. Since their childhood, the six women have specialised in pure a-cappella singing across the ages and styles as one of the rare all-female vocal groups. Their special interest is modern sacred vocal music. In extraordinary works, some of which have specially been composed or arranged for them, they enchant audiences with their characteristic and homogeneous six-part Sjaella sound, blurring boundaries between genres with great skill.

The concert is supported by BKS Bank.
