Stars & Strings, the series of concerts in which prominent Austrian virtuosos play precious instruments from the collection of the Austrian National Bank, is entering Round 3. Sebastian Bru and Stefan Stroissnig are two young and extremely talented artists whose careers have already taken off rather successfully; they will present virtuoso music from two centuries. Born in a family of musicians in Vienna in 1987, Sebastian Bru auditioned for the Vienna State Opera Orchestra at the age of 18 and was accepted. Since January 2016 he has been principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonics. Sebastian Bru plays regular guest appearances with the Berlin Philharmonics and is much sought after as a solo cellist for Staatskapelle Dresden and the Munich Philharmonics. Pianist Stefan Stroissnig, born on 1985, has played on every continent and at the most important concert halls of Europe, including the Royal Festival Hall London, Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus as well as the Berlin Philharmonie. He attracted special attention in the world of music thanks to his interpretations of works by Franz Schubert and music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
This concert is supported by Oesterreichische Nationalbank.
