In the anniversary year, a spectacular programme will be awaiting the audience at the pre-opening on the day before the official opening: The Carinthian musician Lukas Kranzelbinder – recently dubbed “the whizzkid on the bass” by the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung and “the most important young jazz musicians of the European scene” by Die Zeit – has put together a highly variegated evening exclusively for the Carinthian Summer Festival.
The Echo and WDR Jazz Prize winner Tobias Hoffmann and his trio have devoted themselves to arrangements of old and new hits which are imbued with jazz and blues, and songs by the likes of Bob Dylan or the Beatles resound on his famous electric guitar. Mario Rom’s Interzone is a strong and energetic trio which has played almost all important jazz festivals from Montreal to Beijing. Mario Rom himself is an exceptional Austrian trumpeter. In the Brewhouse, The Golden Fangs and Elektro Guzzi, two groups with a serious groove, will bring some hot music to the venerable vaults. If you were at Kranzelbinder’s concert with Shake Stew in the Bambergsaal Hall at the Carinthian Summer Festival of 2017, you will have an idea of how much energy this evening will be filled with.
