In the newly founded Orjazztra Vienna, a long-cherished dream is realised for Christian Muthspiel. The 18-strong ensemble of young musicians is a sensational project, for which he creates new jazz-orchestral works. These have allowed him to successfully transition the tradition of the Big Band into the present day. The large-format jazz ensemble, opulently lining up with two percussionists and two double-bassists, gives the soloists freedom for energetic improvisations. Look forward to Muthspiel’s colourful, rhythmically stirring compositions and a reunion with Judith Ferstl, Beate Wiesinger, Lisa Hofmaninger, Astrid Wiesinger, Judith Schwarz and Alois Eberl, who thrilled the audience at the New Generation Jazz Project of the Carinthian Summer Music Festival 2018.
The Vienna-based singer Basma Jabr and the Syrian oud player-composer Orwa Saleh, who left Damascus in 2012, will also perform together at the stations concert The Caravane of Life by Nadja Kayali in Villach on 18 July.
This concert is sponsored by the Villacher Brewery.
