Franz Schubert: String trio in B flat major, D 471
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:
String trio in E flat major, KV 563

This year, Manndorf Castle plays host to the Carinthian Music Salons for the first time. The striking building in late Gothic style, first mentioned in documents in 1521, forms a perfect backdrop for the exquisite string trios by Mozart and Schubert. The Klagenfurt violinist Benjamin Ziervogel is the concertmaster of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. He and violist Josef Bisak are well known to the audience of the Carinthian Summer Festival as members of the celebrated Acies Quartett. This time they have teamed up with Martin Rummel as a string trio, a less usual type of string ensemble. As for the Viennese Martin Rummel, he is a cellist of global renown. His interpretations are convincing, says the French journal Diapason, with “serious modesty” and “imbued with the sincerity of engagement with the work, far from excessive pathos.”
