Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 1 C major op. 21
Symphony No. 7 A major op. 92 Daniel Serrano (*1991): „Beethovenfries“ New piece for orchestra – commissioned by the Carinthian Summer Festival (world premiere)
This year, the Ensemble Prisma will focus on the oeuvre of Ludwig van Beethoven. They will also devote their symphonic concert to the giant of the Vienna Classic period. This time, it will be full classical orchestration after they have played the First Symphony in an unusual chamber music arrangement at the picnic concerts of Damtschach Castle two days previously, a version which Thomas Fheodoroff, the man at the helm of the ensemble, found through research in the archives of the Bonn Beethovenhaus. The versatile period instrument ensemble, known for its gusto and devotion to making music, excels due to their unusual programmes and their commitment to both contemporary music and rarely performed works. This is why works by young Spanish composer Daniel Serrano will be presented in different arrangements on both concert days. In the courtyard of Ossiach Abbey, it will be played in full orchestra instrumentation in the framework of the symphonic concert. Daniel Serrano is the winner of the 3rd International Nikolaus Fheodoroff Composer Prize, which is awarded by the state of Carinthia. His latest work, which will be performed for the first time, was commissioned by the Carinthian Summer Festival.
