Die Karawanken
Under the motto CARINTHIja 2020 – a state in time travel and perspectives, Carinthia celebrates the anniversary of the Plebiscite of 10 October 1920 this year. Carinthian Summer Music Festival will participate in the celebrations with a strong emphasis on Slovenian artists in the festival programme.
Popular Carinthian jazz pianist and singer Tonč Feinig, accompanied by the traditional RTV Slovenia Big Band from Ljubljana, will bring new songs arranged exclusively for the festival to the Congress Center Villach.
Slovenian composer Tomaž Svete lives in Vienna and Maribor. He wrote his new Missa Clementiae especially for the Ossiach community. It will be premiered during the festive Sunday mass on 26 July in the collegiate church of Ossiach. Svete also wrote the new music for CS out and about.
The experimental concert series will once again offer several performances of new Carinthian songs, chosen as every year by Akos Banlaky for Carinthian Summer Music Festival. This year, the Signs of Life – New songs from Carinthia and Slovenia will present jazz songs and new compositions sung by the charming young Slovenian soprano Nika Gorič. She will be accompanied by Davorin Mori, Emil Krištof and Uli Langthaler on piano, percussion and double bass. Slovenian composer Jacobus Gallus will fill the collegiate church of Ossiach with the renaissance sounds of his Missa Pater Noster on August 2.
