Julia Malischnig, guitarist extraordinaire from Carinthia, gives her debut performance at the Carinthian Summer Festival in Art of Guitar in Move: Guitar and body, sound and motion make for fascinating interaction. Julia Malischnig has invited congenial partners to join her on stage: the Israeli mandoline and lute virtuoso Alon Sariel and bass player Alexander Lackner. Tap dancer Sabine Hasicka is among the most interesting protagonists of contemporary tap, bringing her shoes to the limelight as an instrument. Guitar and requinto, mandoline and archlute, bass, vocals and rhythm tap merge in figurative sound with a surprising range, running the gamut from the intimacy of chamber music to explosive virtuosity. Art of Guitar in Move presents the diversity of guitar music from Bach to Munier, Tarréga, Albéniz, de Falla, Nagaoko, Schulz and Braun right on to Julia Malischnig’s own endearing compositions which reflect her Carinthian roots. An evening for all our senses!
