Aigul Akhmetshina, the 21-year-old prizewinner of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition of 2017, gave made her Austrian début at the Carinthian Summer Festival last year, enthusing the audience with her performance. The likeable young Russian mezzosoprano is an ensemble member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London. Since her success in the competition, her career has really taken off, engagements with Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, Wexford Festival Opera and the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv followed in rapid succession. This year, she will appear in a magical solo recital in the Abbey Church of Ossiach. The British-Italian pianist Patrick Milne, who is also a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme of the Royal Opera House, will accompany her on piano.
